How many traditional cleaners left?
« on: May 22, 2007, 05:27:57 pm »
Im looking through these forums and it seems just about everybody here uses WFP.
So i was just wondering if there is anyone here that still uses traditional methods only??
I know there are quite a few window cleaners around my area that don't use WFP!

I still use it on a few bungalows as I wouldn't want to freak out the old ladies  :) .
There seems to be very little WFP usage around my way on domestic.  I only know of two others who have it.

Theres plenty of trad still about I see plenty. The only reason it seems there are more wfp on these forums is because more things go wrong with the systems. They put posts up asking for help, the trad dont have pumps or poles to talk about!

Way, way more trad window cleaners than there are WFP window cleaners.
WFP is relatively new and it is taking off now, as its a new way of cleaning to so many, there are so many questions to ask, and there are so many elements to WFP, hoses, poles, pole hoses, backpack/van mount/trolley system/trailer mount, brushes, batteries, water tanks, pumps, fan jets/needle jets, off the shelf or DIY and we haven't even got to techniques, painted frames, UPVC frames, hydrophylic or hydrophopic glass...the list goes on and on!!!

So those are just a few of the reasons you are going to see so many WFP questions on the forum.
And most of those that are WFP are also experienced window cleaners to begin with :-\

Well its great to hear that the traditional method is still alive and well!
I personally get more satisfaction from cleaning traditionally, i think the finish is better and i do actually enjoy going up a ladder sometimes! Especially if there is a nice view!  :)

Have been trad for thirty years but having seen what an 8 ft drop can do to a chaps leg/ankle even when you think you're in control, I'm seriously considering wfp, at least for the tops. Currently still doing the research.  Have experimented with a freind's backpack with two of my nieghbours with good feedback from them so far even thought he results weren't perfect. One leaded the other horrible wood frames.
I do like the simplicity of trad though.
