Does microbore restrict flow?
« on: May 18, 2007, 11:04:50 pm »
I need to buy new hose.

The question is do i buy microbore or again normal tricoflex?
Will using microbore mean i will have to turn up varistream as it might restrict flow, if so will this drain more power from battery?

Cheers Craig

it will reduce the flow by about half , but it will not take more power

if it restricts flow then why use it, other than saving space in van, which i have plenty of (transit semi hi top)? Surely to get the same amount of water at the brush my pump must be working harder, using more battery power?

Or am i thinking illogically? I like loads of water to rinse

The flow from my100psi shurflo is more that enough to send it through 100 mtrs of microbore you dont need the flow any stronger when it hits the glass it sends a mist downwards. ;D it is also powerfull enough to supply 2 hoses.

if it restricts flow then why use it,
Because it doesn't kink and it's easy to drag around.

Ok your sort of convincing me!

Chris, i take it you use one pump one varistream (or not) with 2x microbore. Should i try this instead of ordering another pump and varistream? Some have already advised me to go and buy an extra pump and vari 2. Your advises, please. It doesnt worry me if i need to buy these as i am trying to break into more commercial work and it may prove beneficial!

Squeeky, You sound just like an old pro wfper now!! ;D ;D

Just to agree with what Squeaky says, its a lot easier to handle. Also it holds less trapped air inside so air locks pump through much quicker.

I can see the benefit of having two pump setups if one stops working you can still carry on.
However at the moment I have one pump and ecoflow then I just split the hose into two with a y connecter that then feeds  100mtr reel and another with about 70mtrs on it,
with both reels working there is some pressuer drop but the flow is still ample.
If I was woring with a two man team permanantly I proberly would double up on pumps.

I know little about electrics but I suppose the point is that you are NOT getting the same amount of water at the brush.  It still supplies enough to do a job though and it has shown me just how wasteful I was with water previously.

why ? you dont need much water on an applicator when squeegee so a liilte less water with microbore does exactlly the same as using tricoflex and more water

Spoken like a pro Squeaks  ;).

I switched a year ago & its mega, easy to work with & saves loads of water. I just wish Tucker supplied it with the system instead of Tricoflex.

I would imagine a hundred metres of Tricoflex full of water on a reel would be a tad weighty.
