With all the talk about micro splitters has anyone used Spitfire , it is sold by the Dry Fusion people and while it is probably not a micro splitter ,you spray on, agiate and rinse with water in the same way. It has a pleasant odour but is somewhat foamy, works ok on say cheap and dirty rental apartments and such like.

I used to buy 25ltr drums in pre-MS days - still have about 40ltrs that I really ought to use up.

Customers love the smell, it works tolerably well and has the virtue of a fresh-water rinse. I did not find it particularly foamy - I diluted 1:30.

Brian Philbin imported several other usefull products from Australia - Have you tried the Neutra Soft uphostery cleaning system?

I've used the Spitfire Advanced and been very impressed with the product. I gather that this product (which is Woolsafe Approved) is a further development of the earlier Spitfire. I found it to be effective on all soiling types on domestic carpets and all but the most severe commercial installations.

One of the motivating reasons for me to take micro-splitting on board was the health issues for me personally. If I were to take up detergents again, Spitfire Advanced would probably be my main product. It was a wonderful Lavender aroma.  I have never had a foaming problem of note, just a light "creamy head". No John, I havent tried the upholstery system you mention,never heard of it before. Some guy , Bradbury, I think mentioned he was working on a dry system for cleaning upholstery , I wonder is it the same system.

It's not a dry system, it's a pre-spray that must be used with the systems' rinse agent.

When the two mix a polymer is formed that permanently bonds to the fabric, this polymer has some odour neutralising properties and acts as an optical brightener (not the usual dye type) that brightens colours to a remarkable degree on faded cotton prints.

It's greatest value is in restoring suits that have been badly cleaned in the past. In the years that I have been using it I have not observed any down-sides on suits that I have re-visited.

If I may, I may be getting in over my head here, but here goes.

The late John Goldsmith owned Research Products, and manufactured Spitfire, Spitfire Advanced, etc; cleaning products, and also sold the Dry Fusion system.

I am led to believe that he 'borrowed' the idea from a German company, that was using a machine similar to his, (for roof cleaning?), and adapted it to carpet cleaning/protection.

The 'neutra fresh', you mention, I have never heard of.

I have been using Spitfire Advanced for the last three years or so, buying it in 206litre, (44 gallon) drums.

I reckon it's pretty grouse stuff.
