can someone explain the haidryer method of removing wax from a carpet please..

Melt the wax, scrape it off etc then finish off with a solvent.

As Chris states but a lot of hard work = loss of money when there is a cheaper solution to this problem = more money.

Still a bit of a dinosaur still carry hair dryer and iron, just in case!

Scott, I find it safer to use a towel and an iron (preffered), or brown paper and an iron.

Place the towel or paper over the wax, apply the warm iron on top of the wax, then slowly pull the towel or paper away.

As the wax melts, it will transfer to the paper, and as you are dragging it, it will have a fresh area to melt into.

Be extremely careful with polyprops;

There is - use Eco Spotter - COLD

The iron should not be hot just warm enough to melt the wax. Put two or three thicknesses of kitchen paper down over the wax and iron it gently like you would a shirt. The wax melts and draws up into the paper.

It works well with white or light coloured wax but be wary of heavily coloured wax such as christmas candles.

Finish it off with a little white spirit to dissolve the last of the wax.

I haven't tried Eco Spotter but everyone seems to speak well of it. Where do I get it?

Hi Guys,

White spirit is an excellent solvent for candle wax.

It has a very similar chemical formulation and close solubility parameters.

In other words it works.

Just apply  sparingly to the wax and wait a couple of mins.Repeat as neccessary.
