Standing order
« on: April 27, 2007, 07:50:13 pm »
Has anyone got a standing order scheme in place? e.g. Cleaned a property yesterday...price £240. I mentioned the scheme where she pays me £20 per month by standing order and I revisit in 12 months to do the job again. I`ve put this proposal to quite a few customers recently and they seem quite keen about it. I have a list of customers to ring when its in place. Would you run a seperate bank account for this to make it easier to keep track of payments ? is anyone running this scheme succesfully ? And whats the best way to go about it ??? Many thanks, Geoff

Great idea!

It'd be as good idea to send a statement at regular intervals as you can also include some advertising material/special offers in the same envelope.

I'd also suggest some sort of discount or perhaps freebie for people who pay by styanding order.

It is all well and good but i would rather collect my payment for the work i have done, all you are doing is allowing the customer 12 months free credit.

Then in 12 months who knows what their position is, maybe they will be moving or replacing and not require your services.

Also have you considered that techincally you are offering credit terms and this has other implications, registration with the fisa etc.

Maintainance plans for commercial jobs works where you are cleaning a certain amount per month for a fixed price, maybe more pit falls with domestic.

I dont want to put the idea down because in theory its a good idea, just dont get hit where it hurts most, smack bang in the wallet.

P.s I already know my spelling is awful!

the idea is that you charge for the work completed, the customer then pays monthly  in
advance for the next clean. By taking money in advance & not for completed work you do not have to worry about credit terms etc.

If the customer decides to cancel you have still been paid for the initial clean.

great for up selling protection (packages). by not offering this you can leave money on the table. great for repeat as its ongoing. recommendation works better with these clients as they know you and see you often.

great way to pay for overheads, as you know that the money is coming in each month. i read in rich dad, poor dad. how he bought his life dreams sports car by building a business that had income coming with little or no effort on his part.

I have been thinking about this..

When I do a quote I also offer a protection package. I'm thinking of the following:

After the initial clean, the customer pays 1/12th the price of cleaning+stain guard every month. (This offers them a saving because they'll be paying 1/12th of this years price as opposed to paying next years price)

After 12 months I go round and clean their carpet and re-protect it.

Perhaps I could also offer to remove any spillage over the next 12 months FOC.

Does this seem sensible?

The advantage for me:

1. I get a regular monthly income from the customer and know that I'll have the job in 12 months time.

2. It also means the customer is far more likely to choose me for any other jobs.

3. Any spillages will hopefully get sorted by me as and when they occur, rather than the custy having a go and leaving it 12 months.

Advantages to the customer:

1. They get a cleaning job in 12 months done at this years prices.

2. They can budget more easily-no large payments to make

3. They get the apparent benefit of a free spillage removal service.
