hi,

does anyone have any rules they follow for pricing up one off domestics. 

I have a largeish house which I am going to quote on saturday.  she wants a one off clean of the whole house - I would imagine along the lines of tops / inside of kitchen cupboards, deep clean elsewhere etc , then if she is happy with the standard then she will opt for a regular weekly maintenance clean immediately after.

none of my custs have asked for a one off to start with and so this will be 1st one I do, and I would like to try and get the regular clean as well.

I had a dom that I started this week and it ended up being pretty much a deep clean to start with and I lost out as I quoted it under - £30 and it took 5 hours - the per job quotation vs per hour worked against me on this one!!  This is why I am asking advice now as I dont want to do that again.

our main business is one off letting cleans. we find the easiest way to price a job is to split it down into sections. for us this is oven/hob/extractor cleaning, carpet upholstery cleaning, window cleaning, general cleaning (ie kitchen,bathroom,woodwork cobwebs,washing down walls etc), rubbish removal.
  if you give a seperate price for each section of the clean it also helps explain the large amount of work involved in a one off and will justify the price.

As you look at the job estimate how long each area would take to deep clean them ie 3 bathrooms 1 hr each = 3hrs etc then you have your price, sell yourself up as you look round the house, for example if you are looking at the living room tell her what you would do on your deep cleans, move furniture wet wipe skirtings etc. you don't usually clean inside cuboards, ask her if she wants all internal glass cleaned? its usually moving what you can and cleaning behind it. steer her away from how long you will be there but if she pushes you then tell her. it all depends on what you charge per hour.
we would charge anything from £180 to £350 depending on time limits. hope this helps Phil
