E Bay e mail fraud-beware!
« on: August 30, 2004, 03:43:57 pm »
I have received 2 emails recently from "e bay". They are very genuine looking and ask me to log onto e bay to sort out a few account queries, they provide a link http://216.205.92.19:88/aw-cgi/SignIn.html  that looks like the e bay sign in page, BUT IT IS NOT. They are after stealing your password and getting your id. You can only tell by the web page address on the sign in page- BEWARE!!

This method of tricking sensitive finacial information from the unwary is known as "phishing" and nets billions a year.

I had the same e-mail from the e-bay fraudsters!! the aim is only to get your username and password as they will then have instant access to your bank or credit card details! NICE. :-X
