hi all

my supalight is stuck together , from number for down to the 11m section and wont come apart had to leave it on site.

any suggestions

mine are totaly jammed they will  ot budge. was using flat out for 7 hours and  then tried packing it away .. as i pulled one section i cracked another cos i squeezed to hard...

With this problem you have to get someone to hold 1 section at the join while you turn the other stuck section,tell the person holding not to squeeze to tight or they will crush the section but they must hold it tight enough to stop it turning.As you turn your section pull slightly at the same time try and do this slowly bit by bit,i`ve had sections really stuck but by using this method they will come apart in seconds you shoudn`t need to use lubricant,also wet the section your going to turn and then dry it off as this helps you to get a better grip.Hope this helps.

Try 2 people pulling from both ends with you in the middle waggling the joint in circles. Thats what fishermen do.

Here's a tip to prevent your 'supalite' pole getting stuck:
After fitting in a section, glue some velcro (the smooth surface, not the harsh one) just below the seated, fitted joint to prevent the pole slipping further inside the previous pole than neccessary. Do this to all the pole sections and you will never ever encounter any problems dismantling your pole again.
I can't send you any pics because I part exchanged mine. Very good pole but too light for my needs because I work at height in gusty places along the coast and need a pole that is heavier to deal with sidewind gusts.

I do the same with a few rounds of pvc tape on the outside as a stop. The problem with C/F is that it wears and the joints become less stable, tape on the outside allows you to move it downwards to compensate.

I notice mine gets very hot in the sun maybe it will come apart when it cools?

Is it a 'Super-Lite' from us that has got stuck?

We have put in a lot of time and research to prevent this happening on Super-Lites.


If its a different model and you cannot separate them, you will need 3 people. One on each end of the jammed sections pulling gently apart and then the third person in the middle at the joint rotating it like a skipping rope (well attempting to) you will find that this will slowly 'unwind' even the toughest of joints.

This is the method we used to have to use before we cured this on the 'Super-Lite' range.

Hi Shawn,
i can`t really give you any help with your jammed pole but i can give you advice how to prevent it,
i use coloured pvc tape,first you will need to put 2 sections at a time together until just tight enough then wrap the tape around several times onto the thinner section this will then act as a stopper to prevent the pole from jamming and also wrap a piece of the same colour at the bottom of the next section and by using different coloured tape it will also colour code it so as to make it quicker and easier to grab the next section as you are building the pole,here`s a picture

I like the colour coding idea, simple but effective.

We have experimented with a simple wrap of insulating tape but we found with extended use that the sections still slid down under the tape.  Do you find this Gaz?

Alex i use thick velcro tape with one side having a very strong sticky side on it,the tapre is about 2.5 inches wide.it is impossible for the pole to go over it as it is thick i`ve had mine on all sections of poles since i got it some 5mths ago and it hasn`t moved it`s stuck like concrete,when it`s bonded even when it`s soaking wet it dosen`t move.Cheers Nigel.

For a fishermans horizontal use they do not want the pole to come apart so friction is used to prevent this.
For our vertical use gravity keeps them all in place so we dont need the joints to be as friction tight, in fact as you have found its better if they are a bit loose- there is less wear.
Its also possible to put one or two wraps around the tip of each pole which reduces the wear to the pvc tape which you can easily keep and eye on. Its the very tip of each pole that wears a bit like sharpening a pencil each time you make and unmake the joint. The tip edge  becomes thinner. So a bit of tape or a cap/wedge of silicone glue which also stops water ingress, helps.
This is not meant to alarm anyone thinking of these poles as the wear rate is slow. Mine are both 14 months old now and heavily used and recomended.

Hi Alex,
you need to wrap enough tape around so it won`t slip over,
but if you keep the sections inside each other for storage you will have to be careful NOT to wrap too much around,i keep each section seperate stored in a golf bag,
