Whats gone wrong?
« on: April 08, 2007, 09:05:29 pm »
Hi,

Our R/O setup has gone wrong. We've not used it for about 6 months and now the pressure seems to have dropped and the water being produced is of very poor quality.

It's a 600 gallon a day set up with two pre filters, purchased from Pure2o some 5/6 years ago. Usually I purify the water at around 60psi but can up this to 80psi on the R/O adjuster, now however I cant get the pressure guage above about 40psi.

Our tap water is 145ppm, this morning I set the unit going and the water going into our 1000 IBC tank was around 15ppm. When I came back 4/5 hours later only around 200 litres was purified and the water going into the IBC had reached 85ppm, but there was zero waste going down drain.

I adjusted pressure adjuster and the water going into the IBC shot up to 245 ppm, and waste water was 325ppm.

Any help would be great, do I need new R/O?

Cheers,

Huw.

Have you flushed the membranes as 6 months is a long time without use.I would suggest at least half an hour. This could account for all your dodgy readings and flow rates.

Sounds like your membranes have dried out.

I flushed the R/O for around 3/4 of an hour before I started this morning.

Cheers,
