that old wives tale
« on: August 27, 2004, 11:10:30 am »
We have had 3 people this week alone that have asked the same question.

"Is it not true that carpets get dirtier quicker once they have been cleaned"

This seems to be a topic that keeps coming up in my area more and more lately, we tell them the same every time.

"Yes this is true that carpets do get dirtier quicker once they have been cleaned" however we do explain as to why this is the case,

We explain that this is due to the fact that a lot of ccs either are using shampoos instead of detergents or that they do not rinse through the carpets correctly leaving soap residues in the carpet.

My theory to this is try washing your clothes in a washing machine, (not that i have to, now being married an all) 8) put the powder in let the main wash cycle run, and then only spin the clothes to remove excess water, missing out the rinsing completely, what are you left with? a residue of soap on the fabric, you might not be able to see the residue once the clothes have dried, but what happens once the atmosphere turns damp or the fibre gets damp, the dust in the air will settle on the fibre and stick to it, causing it to get dirtier quicker, not only that but the fibre will feel matted, flatten down quicker and look awfull.

We believe that this is the same principle for carpet cleaners, although we dont use shampoos, only detergents, leaving any type of soap residue in the carpets (and this is why we advise not to use these little trigger sprays with 1`s and 0`s in their name and suchlike as this does the same) is going to act like a magnet to dirt, just because it feels nice after it has dry the problems will only occour later on.

This is our theory as to why this tale gets around so much, it is ccs who are to blame for giving the industry a bad name, resulting in less work.

The motto to this story is to take your time, leave carpets residue free, keep your customers, and clean up your image, end result happy customers that will stay with you for years to come.
