Had a go at gutter cleaning.
« on: April 07, 2007, 07:53:07 pm »
Tried my first one today, quite tricky due to a slope and so many angles around bay windows and under telephone lines. I tried my Gaz swivel brush on the end of a twenty four foot glass pole. The brush worked brilliantly  by turning the pole I could change the brush angle to follow the contours of the gutter but the pole was far too heavy as I was supporting the whole weight from below and getting soaked in the process. I finished the clean with my Supalight pole and brush- so much easier but unable to use the swivel brush due to the gooseneck. Quite pleased with the results but a little underpriced (as usual).

I tried the swivel with a Gardiners gooseneck but it didn't seem to work for me. It really needs a straight run for it to work properly.

You will get the hang of it after a few cleans & then be flying.

What size brush are you using? I use a 6" brush for all my soffit, fascia & gutter cleans, so much easier to work with.

Really like Gardiners Superlight brush at the moment but I managed to strip the thread on my last one. I wasn't initially impressed with it but it's so comfortable on a twelve footer for second cleans.

That brush is ok on really regular cleans but on salty glass or really soiled i don`t find them much good. They can leave parts of the glass looking like you`ve not scrub anywhere near enough when you have,i find they don`t have enough bristles some of the window`s looked good at distance but up close with that brush they looked horrible, horses for courses though.

The Anza from B&Q is gr8 for getting in the nooks and crannies and goes round corners because its adjustable to 90 degrees. The bristles part in the middle and will clean up the back of the gutter and the underneath and side as you swipe it along the length of the gutter. About 9 quid. The brown ones got the best bristles just push fits on the end of any pole. Does soffits and barge boards and window frames.

Yes Fence brush is exactly what it is. The yellow bit is a sliding numpty that alters the angle of the head from zero to 90 degrees works with a cam action. As seen on TV now ( in our area) I just pvc taped the Hozelock, jets to the sides, only needed 2 due to less brush area.
heres a pic of its predecessor bristles are rough enough to remove paint  :) . just another tool really the hose just push fits on so its easy to change heads.
