Can you use some metal fittings for the different connections on my van mount.ie brass connection ,or will it alter my tds if the water is left static for to long

I was thinking of brass fittings from plumbers merchant as i want to make up a manifold type of fitting to connect both of my hose reels too.At present i am using a hoselock one that cost about £20 but it is giving me a few prolems.
