I cant seem to get any clear answers from the water company, or environment agency.

As you say it is hard to get a definative answer. However my understanding is that it needs to be put down a foul drain. This is one that takes either toilet waste or waste from baths, sinks etc. The road drain is a no no as a lot of these run off directly to a water course. You may also dispose of small quantities to ground provided there are no water courses within 50 metres.

Never put any waste water down street drains, authorities will throw the book at you.
I think the fine is about 30k.
As John  mentioned you dispose of waste water down special designated foul drains, for this you need a water carriers licence.
Wheelie bin cleaners usually need this so maybe someone from this industry could confirm this.

Hi,

From a wheelie bin cleaners point of view.......

Most operators and certainly the ones that like to stay within the laws have the following:

Waste Carriers Licence - Allows the carriage of waste

You will also gain authority from the local water company in your area to dispose of waste water into a designated waste water drain, which is a foul drain basically although it does depend on each individual water authority.

I believe that as long as you tell them where you are using they are usually okay, basically they can trace back any problems to you if you use it.

Not sure if the same applies to the initial question but my local authority office was fantastic its just finding the right person.

Good Luck
