« on: April 01, 2007, 03:13:58 pm »
hi ,

Does everyone use shurflo pumps or flojet...

whats wrong with the other pumps you can buy for much less with the same power.. lots on ebay.. but until now i have only browsed the above...

i understand about quality regarding shurflo etc... but what about the average garden/pond /caravan pumps...

or am i way off?
Gary.

Hi Gaz
I have 2 x flojet in my dispatch (2man set up)
And 1 x Shureflo in my berlingo (1 man)

I have had some prob's with the flojets and one of them I just cannot get it to stop leaking at the bottom. The shureflo I have had no prob's with at all and does seem to push out more pressure.
Don't know if that helps but I would go Shureflo route I have not tried any others.

Eyup Gaz.I have a feeling that this may be one of those situations where everyone has just assumed (makes an ass out of u and me) ;D..that flojet and sureflo are the only ones going. ::)
I must admit I never thought of any other brand.
Also when you go to the window cleaning sales sites they all seem to sell these two only. ::)
Let us know about the cheaper options.
Having said that iv just bought a 100 psi flojet from Gardiners ;D

From my experience

Shurflo - very reliable and does what it says on the tin

Aquatec - reasonably reliable, loads of power and again a good pump.

Flojet - overpriced and unreliable, although good ones will seemingly last forever.

Again this is only what I've found and not to be taken as a guide.  Gardiners seem very happy with Flojet so obviously they can't all that bad.

You must be very careful when sourcing a pump for your pole system. The so called "cheaper" ones have motors which are designed for very intermittant service (usually for Agricultural Spraying applications), and when subjected to the rigours and extended running periods of Window Cleaning will not last long.

I cant comment on others, bur Shurflo 8000-441-136 & 8000-946-138 100psi pumps both have uprated motors fitted to suit the the Water Fed Pole application.
