Dont know if this question has been asked before, the post on Forum Burnout prompted it ;):

Has anyone ever been propositioned by a lonely housewife (or husband!) during the course of your working day? (What you do outside of working hours is your own business!). Come on, tell us your stories-You`re amongst friends, it wont leave these four walls.

Dec ;D

Someone has to do it!

Temptation has, on occasion, pushed at the envelope of morality  :D

But if you accept the offer how can you then say "That will be £138 for the carpets please and the extras........" ?

On a more serious note, a womanising reputation is not the best thing for someone conducting a business that involves spending so much time alone with other mens wives.

John.

As a woman, I have been in the position of  twice feeling uncomfortable in my own home while having work done.

It is an incredibly dangerous topic (from both sides)
and as Derek said, is very serious.

Absolutley agree Derek

Although I am on first name terms with quite a few regulars I do like to keep a professional distance when it comes to the verbals.

I like the kitchen sink chat as much as anybody else but there it stays.

I can recall a horror story of a cleaner I know who got caught, quite innocently, in a nightmare scenario which cost him his business and ruined his private life, extreme I know but it can happen :o

Almost feel like i have been told of by the Headmaster :'(
My clients leave feedback on me via www.vetted.co.uk. (The Trade Register)
The comments i have had are all positive and one even mentions ' feeling comfortable with me in the house, as a woman alone'.
One of my clients informed me that she was the victim of an attempted assault as a young girl and has never trusted men working in her home since. When i had finished my work, i was told that it was the first time she had not "watched with her back to the wall".
Don't let my banter let you give the WRONG impression :-[

I also agree with the approach of Derek and others to this type of situation.

But I'd suggest to all to take an extra step. Prepare for yourself a reply if you were ever to be propositioned. You need to put it over in a way that would minimise embarrassment to madam and allow you to finish your work "in comfort". Hopefully you may still retain a customer.  And keep it confidential.

Safe and happy about business life:)

Ken,

My last response:

"Whilst I am very flattered, after all the energy I put into cleaning carpets, there is barely enough left for a hand-shake"

Of course, I could have played the age card, but I look too young and virile for that.  ;)

The problem i have is being such a good looking bloke some of my customers insist on giving me a big kiss when I've finished.

sealed with a kiss ;D

Shaun

must admit the wife costs too much to run without a second one in tow, I'd rather take the money and run very far where they can't get me!

Chris

My post was not intended as a reprimand...I like a bit of light hearted banter too ... BUT I felt that the issue went a little deeper than you originally intended... I felt, rightly or wrongly to expand a little.

Thank you for raising the subject albeit in the light hearted manner

John
I always tended to think for several 'in between years' that my personna gave out the right messages.. I was too old to be a stud and too young to be a dirty old man.

Unfortunately age catches up with us all  ;)  ;D

Shaun
Your final comment in your last post are my thoughts entirely.... any man who contemplates taking on two women at the same time is either extremely niave or outrageously brave... I, personally, am by religion a devout coward! ;)
