new brush cleaning spot
« on: March 20, 2007, 06:27:47 pm »
Just received a new 12" brush from cleaning spot. Nice brush.

12" Double trim (stiffer bristles in the middle, and softer bristles in the edges) brush jetted with nylon, this new brushes has 2 major advantages:
It is 100g lighter than the vikan brush, so the pole will bend less.
Also, unlike the Vikan brush, the bristles are in monofilament nylon which has got a much better water retention.

Does'nt mention its a bloody push on with no screw thread to attach to angle adapter... ???

Anyone else come over this before?

I have just got 2 poles from them

39ft  / 18ft  Universal Eco fibreglass water fed pole & angle adaptor & brush.
I think I read somewhere that you have to glue one end of the angle adaptor onto your pole

Do you really want a WFP brush that retains water i don`t think you do,if it retains water that means it`s retaining the dirt aswell.I find theres a lot more rinsing needed with these brushes.

it probably goes against the grain but i actually prefere a brush that retains water, i find i get a better rinse although you do have to keep the bristles cleaner i.e. smacking ya hand through it nown again to get the bits out.

again, against the grain NWH, but i find i need to rinse less as the brush spreads the water better & right to the edges too, i've not got too much experience with monofil' but i found the water just goes straight through the brush without spreading, so you're kind of left with two lines of water (in-line with the jets) to rinse with. :)

You can use an aluminium WFP thread ended adaptor which fits at the top of WFPoles (I think they're called pole protection sleeves) to use for cutting a good deep thread into your plastic brushhead instead of push fitting it on using glue.

It shows in the pic it's attached to a plastic angle adapter so unless there is another angle adapter without a screw thread then you got a duff brush ???

I have been useing the cleaning spot brush for 3 months. Its a lot like the Ionics brush. You can put a good amount of pressure on the brush so the scrubing action feels good.

I dont think it will keep its shape over a period of time as the outer bristles are too long and soft and the bristles are not twisted like a Gaza brush.

The only other problem is the jets are to big so the water is very limp comeing out, which is a problem on sash style windows when you want to direct the water under the sash frame or into a corner.

Neil:
You can replace the 3mm brass pencil jets with 2mm brass pencil jets because they have the same outside diameter, that's what I do with those brushes as it's a straight swap with no drilling involved.. You get more direct water flow from 'cleaning spot' mono filament brushes then the Ionic ones and they trap less dirt because there are fewer bristles. My favourite brush is the one similar to 'Tucker' that Varitech sell as they are black backed with white mono filament brushes with even fewer bristles than 'cleaning spot', (the water really flows from them yet still shifts the birds handywork).

Don't follow what you are saying!
The brushes are all fitted with an angle adapter or they are all without a screw thread?

Hi
Just got a new 12ft extender with the double trim brush from cleaningspot.  All arrived with angle adapter brush and pole separate, the brush has a push fitting and the angle adapter is screw.  I thought what have cleaningspot done here.  Then I noticed that it looks like someone had tried to screw a screw thread into the push fit, there were some little marks inside the fitting.  So I gave it a go and the whole lot fits together perfectly.  Still yet to try the brush out I will do that on friday.

They are sold without a screw thread but have some grooves inside the fitting neck to allow for a screw thread to be cut if that's of any help.
'Varitech' (Newton Abbot) also sell a very good mono filament brush head.

Been using this brush a couple of weeks now and it really is good, the angle adapter acts like a small gooseneck so the pole doesn't bang on the ledge like you get with a vikan.  I'd never go back to vikan, however not tried out Gaz's swivel brush yet, will do soon though.
