Help Please
« on: March 13, 2007, 07:47:04 pm »
Hi All,

I have  been having problems with pressure on my system 100psi sureflow and 100m microbore. I have cleaned the strainer and checked the battery but the pump doesn't seem to be running right. When the system was first put in 9 weeks ago it used to make a loud noise when it was on but now it is very quiet and sounds like it has died.

Do the things have bushes ? I know they have a pressure switch, if I fit a varistream does this do away with the pressure switch? The system has done about 200 hours work and I thought it would have lasted longer.

Today I bled it all and made sure there was no leaks and it worked great for 5 mins and then it went back to how it was before.

The pump doesn't sound like it's turning enough to create the pressure it needs.

Help I'm losing money and it hurts as I have a 6 week old little girl, I need to be 8 days a week!

Thanks, Jason.

Check all of the connectors somethings they play up, also just plug the inlet hose to the pump and see if the flow rate is ok, if not you might have some dirt or something in the pumps head, take the headoff and clean out carefully.

You can disconnect the pressure switch and run the pump direct from the battery, if it works then the pressure switch needs replacing.

I think that you can run a varistream without the need for a pressure switch.

Hi Jason

Have you checked all your electrical connections?  Sounds like you are not getting enough juice to the pump - ?dying battery, poor wiring.  Might not be any of these but its worth checking.  We have had problems in the past that we thought were pump related and they ended up being one dodgy connection.  Fine to start off with but after a few minutes of vibration from the pump, wasn't making a solid enough connection to allow full battery power through.

as Alex says it could be an electrical connection, check them all, reconnect everything if you have too.

Usually though we've found if the pump is running quietly then its not getting enough water so again make sure every inlet connection is perfect - they have to be air tight to work.

Having eliminated all the above, You can easily check to see if the pump is working ok by taking the hose off the pump outlet. The water should gush out. If this is the case then your problem could be back pressure from your micro bore or hose reel having an obstruction somewhere. You could also try running all your hose out and trying it again, just in case there's a kink on the reel.
If you do fit a varistream, you must disconnect the pump pressure switch. All instructions for how to do this come with the unit. Hope your sorted soon. Dai

Dai,
I have taken the outlet pipe of the pump and no water comes out untill i suck the pipe, and when i connect it back up it works for a short while and goes back to how it was. It looks like an air leak but i can,t find where from ?

Thanks for all your help Jason.

have you checked to see if you have picked up some debris in the pump causing it to slow down the movements
