Hi troops, i was just woundering does it effect you insurance having van wfp, i imadgin it does so whats the damage?

A-plan have a special window cleaner van insurance which (if you tell them the value) includes the wfp system and poles

On that a-plan site it says "fitted by all major manufacturer's". If you've got a DIY fitting wil they still insure? It's just the contents I need insuring for fire and theft and damage as my current Direct Line policy doesn't cover this. But I take it I'll have to get someone to cover the lot. Anyone know?

Hi, give  http://www.alexanderswan.com/  a call.  They insure my diy setup.  The premium is 3% of it's value.  They also insure my pressure washing and gutter vac gear.  You do need receipts for everything to prove what's what if you ever need to claim.

They also do van insurance, the courtesy vehicle has an Ionic system in it!  Only available to customers with an Ionic system installed though unfortunately.

ok thanks guys, i've sorted it now. I've kept my Direct Line one for now on my van and extended my public liability insurance to cover my gear for fire and theft etc. I might try and get it all done in one hit at next renewal. Thanks though.

i pay 469 with a pln fully comp 1 yr no claims on van. i cant transfer my no claims from my car though which i reckon would bring it down further.

Been with a-plan for about 3 years, their no claims only go up to 5 years, went with them with about 9 years no claims,  but they still beat the quotes i got.
My brother in law recommended me to A-plan, he did have a claim of stolen van and they did pay out within 5 days of van being found.
A-plan will let you have a diy system
Got a quote from direct line i would have to take out another mortgage to use them.

I pay £288.75 with Direct Line for comprehensive cover on a 2004 Vivaro. Thats with legal protection (for loss of earnings etc whilst off the road) and hire car plus (which is needed to get van of same size). Thats a 35 year old with max no claims and with partner to drive. I think I also had discount for renewing online and having our family car and buildings and contents with them. I also now pay £140 a year for public liability and £1500 tools etc cover for my diy system (no ro thats in garage, static) So I dont think it's that bad. After recently switching to wfp and someone going up the back of my new van after owning it for just 2 weeks I now know the hassle of cutting corners. I had no hire car and no legal protection. I will have to represent myself for loss of earnings. I did have a hire van off the other party as it was their fault. You can imagine the hassle of swapping all your gear into a hire van and back and especially after just 6 weeks or so of wfp. I had enough on my mind without this.

Thats not a bad price I think they wanted around £400 with me, and 2 named drivers, which one is under 21
