Hire machines
« on: August 17, 2004, 07:43:37 pm »
Do any of you hire carpet cleaning machines to the general public? If so is it a good additional service to offer or not? What type of machine is best for this service?

Thanks for any replies in advance.

Steve,

I know many will disagree with this but I have always felt that a professional carpet cleaner hiring out a machine is not quite as bad a a surgeon hiring out a scalpel.

Sure you can offer advice and supply chemicals that the local hire shop will not, but does it not give the message that CC is something that just anyone can do?

If so, does this not devalue you own professionalism?

John.

Last year chap from down the road ask if he could hire my porty, yes I said one day £150 two days £250 plus cleaning agents, that’s a bit dear he said! Do you want a pro machine or not, yes but the hire shop are much cheaper, walking away saying have a nice day.  His wife is a friend of my wife and gave her a sob story John cleaned the carpets the other day and there are lines in it and it still wet do you think Len will come and have a look, which I did and it did cost him. ;D ;D

I think the ramifications in us hiring out machines to Jo public is too great, I would be surprised if our insurance will cover you if the customer wants to claim for a faulty machine which it’s not.

Len,

When I rule the world, carpet cleaners' wives will be banned from having friends or relatives  ;)

When I had one, she had some - no wife = fewer problems all round  :D
