Insurance Poll
« on: March 05, 2007, 11:15:22 pm »
There has been many debates on who does and doesnt have insurance.

This survey is to find out some figures, not whether you should or should not have insurance.

Mine is about £180 for 5 million but with a 40 ft height restricxtion.  Since I discovered that the 40 ft refers to the height of the work rather than the height at which the operative works, I will have to adjust that on the next renewal.

Do it NOW if you have any work over 40ft - cos, sure as dammit, it'll be something over 40ft you'll have to claim for.

There's also something somewhere in your policy that says you have to inform them of any changes which might affect the conditions!

I think the insurance companies here have huge big glass windows and they can see me coming - maybe I should offer to clean them

Thanks for the thought but I have no work over 40 foot.  Indeed, my longest pole is only 36 foot   :)  .  I would indeed contact the insurance company if work over 40 foot came up.  I do intend to get a longer pole and higher work but no point upgrading the insurance unless I get such a job.  My insurance renewal is in October.  I will upgrade it then or when I get a 40 foot+ job - whichever comes first.

most councils now require £5000000 liability cover and some want 10 million ,we have just renewed ours but also includes employers liability insurance . It is worth asking your insurance if it covers what you are actually working on as most dont . ie cleaning a window and it breaks you wont be covered for the window but only for the damage the broken glass may cause.
