Help with WFP – New RO System

Hi,

I have set up my RO system and have a reading of 000 going into my 210 x 2 tanks. However it’s only a dribble going in and a flow of waste going in to the drain.

If this is how it’s supposed to work it’s going to take a week to fill the tanks?????????

Or am I doing something wrong??????????

Kinda depends on your water pressure, but I too thought there was something wrong, it really does look like a tiny dribble doesn't it?
But it is quite normal.

Thanks Ian,

I suppose I will have to keep it running day and night.

I have a tap on the waste water flow out and wonder what this is used for, I have tried turning it and all that seems to happen is more waste.

I had same thing. Booster pump sorted it out.They are expensive, but work. I think the tap could be to reverse flush which you are supposed to do every now and again.

The other bit of good news is you throw the first five gallons of product water away ;D

When they talk about learning curve this is the sort of thing they mean. Good luck.

Where would I buy a booster pump???????

At the moment I may have enough water to start window cleaning by Christmas ;D ;D ;D

A plumber would have one or a plumbing shop would sell them.

I borrowed one from Gardiners when i ordered my RO.

Your tap pressure needs to be a min of 50psi, mine is 75-80 so i dont need a pump.

If your pressure is low so will be production rate, then you will need a pump.

New RO system and low output = low water pressure. The only remedy is a booster pump. I already had a boosted 4040 RO on my van and bought a 300 GPD unit from Pure Freedom coz I wanted a static set up done cheaply and was fed up of back washing the softener on my 4040.

 Hardly anything came out the product pipe so I got the booster pump and the difference was amazing. I get around 1100 litres a day at a TDS well below what I ever got out of my 4040.  Happy daze  :)

Thanks, I will have a look.

Its been running all day since 9.00 am and I have just looked in the tank 8.30 pm and its about 1/4 full or 3/4 empty.

The tank holds 210 litres.

Went out today and used my freedom WFP system for the first time. Didn't bother to practice, just went for it.

Fantastic.

I had several houses with Dormer-windows and could not get to them safley with my ladder.

I did the tops WFP and did the bottoms trad, due to not having quite enough water , once I have bought a booster pump, I should have enough not to worry.
