Can anyone elaborate on Alan Brookers modification on page 1 of this post, it's something that appeals to me, but can't quite figure out what he's done.

Take your regular Hydromaster filter, get some 20 micron hollander weave mesh made into a sock for the filter and slide it over the hydromaster filter then pop this into your Ninja waste tank.
Re-plumb your inlet and outlet solution hoses to the waste tank and hang them over the top of the filter and down into the water with a little acorn filter on the end of the inlet hose to stop any stray airborne matter from the vacuum inlet ... er ... ... That's it.
Total cost of parts iro  £120.     Dah dah   

I've been using my ninja 400psi with this adaption for a couple of months now and can report that the results are MIND BLOWING.
As such I have now removed the V2 heating system and the second vac motor. So chuffed with results I'm building myself a new machine from scratch in April

If you're not one for tinkering then I'd say the cfr machine is the best one out there. Because of the way that that whole cfr system works it doesn't need the heat or vacuum power of the 'super porty's' out there to be able to produce astonishing results.



so he's filtering the dirty water and reusing it, as per the CFR. wouldn't it be easier to have the filter fitted externally, inline? If 20micron is small enough I can't see a problem.

How big is the waste tank on a ninja? the CFR only has one tank so its big. So the dirty water is very diluted. if the Ninja tank is smaller it will concentrate the dirt more.

What you're saying is true Mike, but the small version ( which Derek Bolton uses ) is even smaller than the Ninja and works fine.

I had one a few years ago and loved it...................if the job is big, or exceptionally dirty, you would just, dump and refill.

I tried the inline route (20 micron sock on the hydromaster filter in the hydromaster filter casing - filtering while still in vacuum. It does work but it also gets clogged quite quickly and if you've not used a hydromaster filter before ..... d**n they're bulky if you're out 'n about with your porty)

If you find that the Ninja waste tank is too small then try this .....
I've padded out the lid of the clean tank and put a catch on either side. Then install some waste fittings from your local plumbers merchants (with sealing caps) and connect the two tanks to make them one.

Why the sealing caps?     If you like you can switch from recycling to clean tank / waste tank   Utter genius even if I say so myself.

'Corse if you stick with just the one recycling tank then you've got tool/ cable and packed lunch storage in the now defunct clean tank

The padded clean tank lid with catches is a must because not only is the solution split between the two tanks, the vacuum is now also.

yes carpet man we have ninja,135 psi want to upgrade to 400psi
at some point great machine they are very near to us makes sense to get from them,

Due to over 2 years of wear 'n tear I had to replace my ninja 400psi pump head and motor mid december at a cost of £700 odd 
If I'd know it was going to go on me I would have ordered my 1200psi pump and motor earlier.
Anyhow, during April/ early May my 400 will be made redundant including the pulse hoses and possibly the internal V2 heat exchanger with return valve/ flow control etc.

I'd be looking for £500 for the pump head/ motor and you'll also get the pressure guage, pulse hoses and solution in hose and the necesarry connections.

It's all in very good condition. I look after my tools. THIS pump has been run on soft water!

So how much do Ashby's charge for upgrading to a 400 from a 135? I know they ad guages etc but I bet it's pricey.
