What prespray have you found effective on 80/20 carpet with a favourite place of the dog for lying on, ie: body grease rubbed in to the pile.

I thought you should allways use a Woolsafe approved Pre Spray for wool or 80 / 20 such as Prochems Pre spray gold.

Blitz would be ok to use on Nylon tho.

Iwould use one step ms dilluted 15 to 1 extract then a light spray of zap it.

I'm with you Lenny boy get in there with a sledge hammer. Some carpets I get to clean the ph dies before it reaches the carpet fibres, a bit like paint stripper it needs a couple of coats to remove the grime. So a liberal coat of craftex enzyme and off it comes to reveal carpet beneath.

I am experimenting with presprays, this was done with a sample of Extracta Lift off, rinsed with Prochem double clean,  Think ill order some as it worked a treat

Iv done some stairs in my time, never: come across risers in that state! Care on experimenting, you may top up owning it.

Its polyprop  you would get the same result with just the hand tool with no prespray,if your using a decent porty or truckmount

You can't use this on Wool, people can pay £50sm for decent wool carpet and you come along and apply Hydramaster Blitz on it.

The fitting looks run of the mill.
The stair condition however is very worn.It looks an old stair well though.

The fitting is a sort of run of the mill-youre right. But if you check out the edges then you can see where it is "bagging" away from the riser-(particularly noticeable on bottom step in pic). This is an indication of a "quick" contract job where no excess has been turned in to prevent a "raw" edge. Tis not a problem until a high powered machine could grab a loop and pull it all away. It doesnt happen very often granted but is always a possibility. Perhaps its just me being a perfectionist but i always insist my lads install grippers right on stairs. As everywhere else.

Just an idea, you don't often see a cable going upstairs to get power so you don't think it's a photo of someone looking down the stairs? I can't remember seeing risers that dirty before!

You are right Shaun, its a pic looking down the stairs..  I am aware of the high ph but i tried a lower ph first and never got a result.  These stairs belong to a flat above a chinese restaurant, must be 10 of them living in it..  up down up down...
