Hi to all

Things are getting going for me. I'm on the NCCA course 13/14 April, I'm looking at machinery online and, since the Escort van has just died on me, I'll be at next Thursday's commercial vehicle auction in Gloucestershire.

My plan is to use a Speedster or Scorpion as a truckmounted portable with tanks onboard. I'm thinking short wheelbase Transit here, around 53 or 04 reg and about 60,000 miles I'll have 5K to spend.

Just wondered what people thought of this.

A much smaller van will cope and give, easier parking, superior access, lower running costs and you will get a nearly new van, for the money, you're talking about.

The most popular small van, for tradesmen and services is the little Suzuki with a 1300 petrol or diesel engine.

I've been using one for 2years and it carries; -

Ninja.....50ft and 25ft hoses, carpet wand, 2 upholstery wands,
Puzzi 100 spotter....12ft hose, tools.
17" Rotary....two brushes
Turbo drier
Rotowash 400
Leather kit in plastic container
Two buckets
Box of Chemicals
Plywood step 700 x 700 x 350 high for easy loading.

Anyway it's a bit smaller thana transit and really looks the business, he can also get in and out without the use of a Stannah stairlift or his zimmer frame!

And they are a bit cheaper so you'll get more for your money, as for a 60k transit on a 53 or 04 for £5k you'll be lucky add the vat when looking in Autotrader.

Looks like hydramaster's but it's not it was far far cheaper. glyn Waterworth had it made for me back in the dark age's. 
He had his hydramaster shelve copied and made for loads of us a few years back

I have cleaned here for over 20 yrs and at times I have had to carry over 300ft hose to reach some of the offices around the factory but now with a smaller van I only need to carry 150ft. Setting up times have halved and production is far faster, think long and hard before you commit to a van make sure it's large enough to carry what you need and small enough to gain access to were you want to be.
