Woops.....Sorry!
Hello,
Help needed on communal WFP window cleaning. 235 brand new flats, in three blocks, most up to third storey, to be cleaned quartely. Need to get a price in by tomorrow.
I know the windows will be fine to WFP as we completed to build clean on them, I was thinking £10 a flat equals £2,350? Really want this contract.
Cheers,
Huw

how many windows are there per flat at £10 a flat it seems a bit steep to me especially with them all being so compact.

assuming they are 2/3bed flats, I would reckon £6 a flat = £1410. Of course they may be bigger/have quite a few windows/access problems etc but I would most likely go in around this price.

there's three or four windows on each really, plus large patio windows but these are set back from balcony so no chance we can do them.
There's also six, three storey stairwells which are glass all the way up.
I reckon it would take two/three days with two men.

I agree with Trevor that seems a bit steep, i,ve just submitted one fr 40 flats @ £250.00 including communal.
Its easy work & i feel i,ll be undercut at that

I'm taking your comments on board and will probably reduce it to £7 per flat , equal £1,645. Still a good earner for 2 men x 2/3 days, but more competitive.

On a contract like that you need to charge a day rate instead of per flat.
If it was me I would charge
1 days work @ 7 hours per day I would charge £300, so 3 days at £300 per day = £900.00

I do a block of 11 flats, £180 takes 11/2 hrs . 6 windows each 3 storey, no access problems. I quoted £80 and the lady from the management company said for me to re-quote at £180 as she thought that this was more reasonable

You have to think what you want to earn?
Sometimes if you under estimate a job you will soon hate doing it but more than likely they will be getting 3 quotes and going for the cheapest.
I would price it at £200 per day per man = £400 x 3 total = £1200.
If you get it done in 2 days then your onto a nice little earner.

If i were you, i would go in at 2k, or just under. I clean alot of property managed blocks of flats (normally 12 wkly), just like the type you mention (3 floors) and they normally include within the budget £10 per flat, that equats to £3.33 a month per flat ! not exactly big money when you look at it like that. Don't just allow for wages, surely you want to make a profit for your business aswell?? You never know until you test the water!
If you get inside work aswell it's a bonus.

Hi,
Thanks to everyone who gave their advice on this topic. I'm pleased to say that we were notified today that our tender was successful. I took on board some of your comments and lowered our price just a little.
In addition to the window cleaning we also won the communal cleaning too! So I am over the moon.
Cheers,
Huw.
