« on: February 22, 2007, 11:07:35 am »
went to a house this morning,
carpet was filthy, thats why she called me out probably!
anyway , preysprayed with lift off from extracta, no joy
ah i thought take a chance, put some red r x in a bucket ,
and warm water, put on carpet with a tampico brush , agitated left for 10 mins
extracted, with water and hey presto results were fab.
even got a five spot tip , anyone tried this before?
cheers me dears.

NO! Red Rx is a specialist stain removal product containing various ingredients to tackle specific stains which have caused a dye problem. It is not designed to be used as a general detergent.
Did you agitate the lift off? I suspect it was the increased agitation which did the trick.

i got a sample of lift off  from extracta......used as a prespray diluted at 1-100
i then aggitate with duo........leave for 10 mins.........worked wonderfully well for me...
i do a lot of let/rented properties.........we all know how bad student cc can be..
i liked lift off.......cut thru the crap like a hot knife thru butter! :)
life is one big learning experience!!!!!!!

You need to get yourself some decent pre spray.Red rx is a specific stain remover not a pre spray so why use it as one there are plenty good pre sprays out there.

I have found when ever I use red rx it foams the machine up like crazy.
It's great on small spots and stains but using on the whole of a carpet I would imagine there could be alot of residue which could then attract dirt back quicker.

As said it is a specialist product with a range of solvents to tackle a specific problem. It tells you on the bottle not to get it on the surrounding carpet. It then needs to be thoroughly flushed out. Using it as a cleaner could leave undesirable residues.
