Hey guys, keep getting wonderful but conflicting advise.
In Exeter with approx 100pps (tds meter on way in post). Should I go down the route of RO system, bearing in mind I'm on a water meter, so costly and have no drainage for waste ( gonna have to expel waste down driveway and accross footpath outside house...Dodgy! )
Or should I just use 2x Di units prob 11 litre size in parallel? Or would this cost more?
How long does the resin in an11 litre Di last, how many litre's does it produce?

Any advise would be appreciated....Please help.

Sounds Like the best solution for you would be an ionic pro 6 or pro 7.  While they might be more expensive to buy they will save you money in the long run.  The pro 6 rejects only 20% of the water compared with up to 60% from most RO's, thre pro 7 does not reject any water at all.  check out www.ionicsystems.com or give them a call on 0845 22 66 002.

Probably for you the easiest solution (unless you can afford the Ionics pro6 or 7) is to set up your vehicle with twin DI vessels. This will cost you more to run, but is very cheap and easy to set-up.

A couple of re-furbished vessels (£45 each), a bag of resin (£59.50) a pump (£110), hose and connectors (£25), Hose reel and microbore (£60), a tank (from about £70) and a pole (from about £85) and your sorted.

I make that about £540 including VAT.

Not a lot of dosh and an easy solution

Another solution would be an in vehicle RO system which you could 'hook up' to your clients water supply, this is the type of system that a workmate of mine uses as he is on a water meter. He uses a Merlin in his vehicle.

A bit more expensive and a little more complicated.

shame really I'd like to know more about this pro 7 system that produces no waste at all. Guess I'll have to send off for a brochure, just hope I dont get bombarded with follow up sales calls

Sorry for the rant Goochie , I know this is'nt really relevant to your question. "No drainage for waste"? I just use 6mm hose for mine and drop it into the nearest sink, may not be ideal but it is only a small flow of waste water, no need for it to  be permanently plumbed in, could'nt you do do something like that ?

hhmmm, I reckon we've got ANOTHER Ionics employee on the forum. 

Goochie Alex is right, go for twin di vessel, you'll be surprised how long the resin will last, also when you take into consideration the cost of buying a Pro6/7 plus the additional running costs (prefilters and ro membrane etc) it will probably cost you about the same to run except without the massive, over-inflated Ionics price, leaving you plenty of cash to spend on quality poles and a lifetime supply of resin.

How come you have no access to a drainage pipe of some description??
You can be several metres away without having any problems, my own waste pipe is stuck into a downpipe on the side of the house...

go with the twin DI set up, i've had my system set up this way for 2 years (had first year just with one DI unit). dont worry about the cost of resin, its very minimal. i have a 400Ltr van set up, use wfp just about every day & i go through about 3 bags per year. my tap tds is 105ppm. so thats roughly just over 200 quid per YEAR in resin! if, in the future, you get to the stage where resin is a serious cost for you then you should by that stage be able to afford any system you desire. plus there are bennefits to being able to make pure water on demand.

Hey guys thanks for all the advice, brill.

Just to clarify, our house is above our garage and although we have mains water in garage there is no drainage anywhere near, as for gutter down pipe we dont have on as we are in a terrace of 4. All built above our garages, have checked no one has driveway drains.
All our household drainage is in the back gardens so would mean pumping waste water up stairs and thru the house so out of question. our houses built on a steep slope.

Like the idea of the 6mm pipe out for waste. Please tell me as I've never seen a system working, is the waste a high pressure and constant flow or more like a slow trickle? Would be interested to know if any one can help.....

Ps, TDS meter arrived today, and on average over 3 readings i was getting 96ppm, with a temp of around 12c. hope all this info helps and once again guys thank you so much for all your help.
