Canvassing commercial
« on: February 16, 2007, 02:28:03 pm »
New to the forum and reading through the posts found some really helpful and interesting topics.

I have been window cleaning for a few years, mixture of trad and wfp, all my work is domestic but really want to get some commercial work to increase my profit margins

Would any one be able to let me have a peek at a copy of a letter or give me  ideas as to what I could send to them to canvass work in this area

Thanks for your help, will hopefully be able to offer some advise on other subjects

Why don't you pop in personally to a company's premises and ask them outright 'do you have a window cleaner'.

Look smart, be polite, maybe leave a card, what have you got to lose?

Hey Murray, there's a guy selling such a letter on E-Bay, £2.99.
All common sense stuff, but worth 3 quid, have a look........

Popped into a couple of golf clubs near me on the way home today and left my card. Been asked to quote for both of them.

One of them I had a chance to look round, about 40 small windows and 5 largish bay windows inside and out once a month. Nearly all of them are ground level, few upstairs windows in there office these are accessed by outside staircase so no working at height required.

Job would probably take a couple of hours, so I was thinking of quoting £60. First commercial job I have quoted for, does this sound reasonable to you more experienced guys and girls?

Thanks

Depends on how much you want to earn an hour and how much you need the work.

Don't think that that will be the case with your profit margins, remember, commercial is all about cost, you get undercut on commercial probably 5 times more than on domestic, everyone wants it and are prepared to clean it for very little profit!!
Good Luck.
