hey heres a cheeky way of promoting!
« on: February 15, 2007, 08:35:51 pm »
I've recentlly started looking for dirty windows in streets I already clean, I flyer from time to time but never canvass ( too time consuming, dont like to, cheeses me off enough when people do that to me in the evening, the victor meldrew type i am ! ;D) .  Anyways I took it apon myself to clean just one dirty window of neighbouring properties I already clean, then I stick one of my flyers face to the glass. Its worked! I get calls and people are quite amused by the cheek, they often hav'nt realised how dirty their windows were til they can compare or often say they were looking for a wc but never got round to it.
Just a tip, try it , may work for you ,   ;)

I think you are pushing your luck, some may have found it funny, others may take offnece and report you for trespass, or might just give you a slap!

sorry, should explain most my stuff is terraced streets, not like I'm wandering into gardens , up paths etc. had dozen or so calls in last month, not one complaint, cant think anyone would be bothered enough to complain about one clean ground floor window and a flyer blue tacked to it  :-\

Assuming you ally it with humour this is a great idea.
What happens when you do it to someone who already has a cleaner?

well theyre windows would'nt be dirty anyway would they? anyhow how would that differ to canvassing and someone enquiring to your price who unknown to you already has a window cleaner?
I'm usually cleaning when people are at work, in a large town all over the place, I'm trying to develop the pockets of work I have, evening canvassing is'nt practical nor something I'd like to do. I'm selective  and do it maybe no more than a dozen times a week in streets I already work. Had 8 new regular cleans in the last month. Had I got any negative views or complaints I would reconsider.

I did a cheeky one years ago when I used to chimney sweep.
There had been a chimney fire in the area just before christmas so I went round with a flyer saying:

Don't let Santa get a black beard  - or worse - ON FIRE!!!

Sister-in-law did a lovely cartoon as well - ..............got 3 jobs from it!!!
