Wanted: Trad work in Surrey
« on: February 12, 2007, 12:55:59 pm »
I've been window cleaning for a year now, but am still only at half capacity.  I've estimated I can take on 150 more houses, which will obviously vary depending on the size.  Please note I can't do leaded or georgian windows and I am trad only and up to first floor.  At the moment my work is in Bisley, West End, Knaphill, St Johns, Goldsworth Park, Horsell, Woking, Guildford, Byfleet but am happy to visit other nearby villages if there's a few houses there.

I know most cleaners only want to get rid of the time wasters and difficult customers but if I can pick up some regular customers it all helps.  And yes, I am still leaflet dropping and door knocking every night, just exploring more options.

Thanks for any help

Chris

why cant you do leaded or georgian?

Probably should have answered that straight away.  I suffered from severe repetitive strain injury in my fingers, hands and arms from years of office computer work and computer games.  I had to quit my job and had no idea what job I could do - you need your hands for most things nowadays!  After a couple of months the pain had lessened and my brother-in-law, a window cleaner for 9 years, trained me up and I found I could do it.  The squeegee and applicator method seems to be ok (I've been doing this for a year now) as it's not my wrists that are the problem, but georgian and leaded windows (the way I've been taught anyway) need a scrim wrung out until almost dry, and then wipe the window - it's this action that brings on the pain as it's the tendons from my fingers to my elbow that were/are inflamed.

It's a shame as there's more money to be had in these types but I'm just happy to be able to work.
