Hi all,

anyone had or used the oreck orbiter and is it any good, as cleaner / agitate.

we need something when up and down blocks of flats and offices and am loathed to use the numatic rotary we have as its so heavy

The oreck seemes to be quite light but just wonder whether its up to the occasional use as l/m carpet machine and more often as a good agitater?

We mostly use a sebo duo for carpet agitation, which is good for domestic carpets, but not that effective for office types.

I was surprised to find someone endorse the Oreck recently, in glowing terms, but it's only a domestic tool and as you say, very light, also, the orbiting action is too restrictive ( it's only 12 inches across )

I purchased one about 5 years ago, hoping it would be suitable for domestic work............it was'nt and simply doesn't compare to the bigger rotaries.

If you want a ( smaller rotary ) there are plenty around, with the necessary weight and power to do the job properly.

I've used the Texatherm system and Charley pads, plus rotary with brushes and the Oreck simply doesn't come close.

This, of course, is only my opinion, but, I binned the Oreck, which I would never have done, had I felt it might be useful !!!!!!!!!!

Ive got a Cleanfix Floormac which I think is similar. I use with Queen Pads and MS as a LM system and where it loses in weight it gains in efficiency. Difficult to steer at first though.
Well made and worth the money IMO.

Oscillating machines should be an absolute dawdle, to use, when starting, try holding the handle lower and in close to your stomach

I think the Cleanfix is heavier and more robust than the Oreck, interesting  to hear of your success. Do you soak the pads in solution, or just prespray and ( mop )

Have also being looking at the floor mac as it also has a solution feed to it which would be useful for prespray when agitating, dont really want to spend out on something if its not up to the job tho !

Any ideas on a lighter rotary? i already have a very heavy one and because of that rarely use it :

I've found using a damp pad (after pre spray and dwell) seems to work best. I've also found it a bit easier to steer since the pads have worn a bit. I wouldn't say it's a particularly light machine for it's size either.

the Cleanfix, with appropriate  chemicals and technique,  sounds like it might be viable, there are a number of chemicals which could be used with the machine and I presume you have been able to source pads'

you are correct in using damp pads ( soaked and wrung out )

Yes- Cleanfix sell them called Queen Pads £25 each (not cheap!) one sided like Charlys.
