I think you mean 'plonker'
It is just one of the many idiosyncrasies of the English language that we, Anglo-Saxons(with a dash of Viking), come up with from time to time just to confuse people from other Countries.
I am going to let others answer you on this one and just sit back and enjoy the explanations..

Plonker is also slang for the well known male appendage.
"Plonk" is the sound made by casually dropping a floppy object onto the floor. Plonk is also slang for cheap wine - not so much in use today as people are a lot more savvy about wine these days.
