whats the best cleaning soloution mixture?
« on: February 09, 2007, 05:06:58 pm »
Had a bad day today, i just cant seem to get the mixture right in the bucket. Have tried car screenwash with a touch of fairy also fairy with a touch of dishwasher powder, also tried dishwasher salt with a touch of rinse aid in it . Nothing seems to be right. Could anyone tell me what to make up the cleaning solution with as i dont fancy buying gg4 etc cos of the cost. My potions just dont seem to make the squeege slide properly if you know what i mean.
Any help would be gratefully received. Heres hoping cheers Dave.
P.S im new to window cleaning and using the trad method.
better luck tommorow.......

Good old FAIRY LIQUID!!!......non of your cheap washing up liquids.....FAIRY LIQUID is all I have used in 19 years of trad window cleaning.

Tried GG stuff once..........didn't like it....couldn't see the edge of wet area and the blade didn't seem to slide as well.

Never tried Squeegee off though?

Squeegee off is brilliant! B&Q is the cheapest place i've found. Fairy liquid is also great...but don't wear marigolds when you're using it. ;D

Dave,

You may have the mixture right, but the air temperature could be 'wrong'.

In really cold weather, you'll find that no matter what solution you use, or how new your squeegy rubber is; you'll see faint lines left after your squeegy has passed over the glass.

Don't worry too much about it; they disapear.

Oh, I just use a third of a bucket full of water with a two-second squirt of Fairy.

Some don't, but I like to see some suds!

Yep gota agree with dave fairy knows best in my opinion, always used it and not had a problem, on the other hand i have had a problem with rubbers you sure its not them thats the problem instead and not your solution. :-\
Dont argue with a retard, they will just pull you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Tosh has apoint about the cold.

I use a Bucket on a belt and a bottle of water mixed with a bit of Fairy (fairly strong mix!!) and when it's realy cold it goes a bit syrupy so use a bit of HOT water.
