My new wand
« on: February 08, 2007, 10:16:40 pm »
Hi guys,

When I first came on the carpet cleaning section of the forum I posted a picture of the wand I just bought. And what a mistake that was!!!

The stick I got for it was unbelievable :'(

So I am going to show you the wand I just bought off ebay a few weeks ago!

Please tell me your honest opinions and also can some kind person tell me if I can change the jets for new ones and where can they be purchased from?

Cheers

Whoops :-[

I forgot to ask another question.

Where can I get a new brass fitting where the solution hose plugs into?

It's a bit old and tattie :'(

Our sponsor expresscleaning could sort you out, I personally go to Hydramster.co.uk, they have extras that you may need like stubbies and a glide which makee life loads easier.

Hi, You would be better off replacing them old fittings as a pose to repairing them, it wouldn't look too professional entering someone's home with them on your wand would it!

We have a similar wand that were bought from the states, im more than happy with it, i also believe but could be wrong that Solutions sell this wand.  Id be dubous about buying a second hand wand, its better to buy new as you can get em for about £170 delivered even less imported froim the USA.

Brass quick connects are inexpensive about £15-£20 a set and its allways a good idea to have at least one of eaxch spare on the van.

Get a glide for your wand it make a massive difference,

with  the quick connects, fit a male on your wand and tools, then fit a female on your solution line.

this works out cheaper over time.

Matt

Are you serious..........do you really think for one minute, that a client would be upset by the appearance of this wand...........it's shiny and clean and clients are very unlikely to even see the jets, or notice the connectors and even if they did...............are they going to stop you in your tracks and refuse to let you in their home, because they don't like the look of " that little brass bit" .........

If it's working..............leave it alone, other than to reverse the male / female connectors, as Mike says.

quick connect fitting looks fine, they all go dull, use it till it breaks, same for the jets.

Mikes right its easier to have a male quick connect on wand, thats how most tool come,

very good wand its the one Hydramaster sell, www.hydramaster.co.uk you dont need a glide really, unless you got a truck mount.

good buy! ;D

Could this be a Glidemaster wand?

Glidemaster is probably the market leader in the UK. Prochem, amongst others, use them. As suggested above, Express Cleaning Supplies are Prochem agents.

I'd go along with Mike H and fit male connectors to all tools, and female to hoses. All you'll need is a spanner or two and some PTFE tape.  Lubricate the fittings with silicone spray (NEVER WD40) at least once a week.  If possible, obtain S/S jets as they last much, much longer.

Safe and happy cleaning :)

I fit female connectors to all my machines and male to all tools and all hoses with a male and female. Thus any hose will fit any machine with any tool on it. Hoses can then join if required with no problems.

Caravan Thetford toilet seal lubricant is made for the job and does not degrade connector seals and is about £3 for a can that will last you several years.

Hi Craig,
Why do you say you don't really need a glide with this wand its just that i have this wand and was thinking of getting a hydramaster glide whilst they were on offer?

pretty good wands, I bought 2 from TD products in california, I think they were about £92 each including the freight costs, when you change the jets don't forget to take out the filters behind them so you can clean them at the same time.

Yeah nice wand mate, but I still think it needs a bit more of a polish, I just had a custy today halfway through the carpet clean, she came running & screaming into the lounge angle grinder in hand Pzzz.. Ppzzz.., cut my brass connectors right off, good god I said woman are you insane :o
She said to me 'You ever try to enter my premises again with that filthy piece of tat  and I will be cutting something else off Mr Fletcher; I just gathered my broken pieces of wand and left. :'(
