Hi all, (again too addicted to this site )

I am planning to purchase a back pack for several awkward jobs I have.

I like the price of the varitech back pack but I was a little dissapointed to find it had no speed settings.

Although the shurflo is £50 - £70 more expensive than the varitech I think for me this is the route I would choose to go down.

Can anyone who uses the shurflo backpack please let me know what the litre per minute is on each of the speed settings? I am afraid that I would use too much water and wouldn't finish off the job and keep having to run back and fourth to the van to  refill.

I currently use 1.4l per min

I use a back-pack and usage varies according to the house ie flow rate per dirt and salt on the windows, so the ltrs per minute dont mean a thing in my opinion!

and yes you have to keep running back to your vehicle to keep topping it up.

However you could go down the Freedom trolley route and use the trolley as a pure power unit and just use hoses to get to the windows.

Had a trolley and would never never go back to one.

Litres per min doesn't mean a lot to you but it means a heck of a lot to me.

I know how long it takes to do a house so finding out the L per min will help me determine if I can do the house without going back to the van to top up.

Speed settings are not really necasary on a back pack, in fact it can cause problems as it is something extra that can go wrong with it, simple is best!

i have mine flat out all of the time so it doesne matter about speed settings...........

As long as I have a 25 litre barell handy, I'm quite happy to fill it every six to eight 'standard windows'; or at every house doing tops only; it just takes seconds.

This mightn't sound impressive; but the shurflo backpack is a good bit of kit; however there's a knack to using it to best effect.

I will be going van-mounted in the near future, but I'll still be using my backpack regularly.

No offence taken Matt - its about opinions and discussions.

and to explain, my area of work covers the seaside with salt grimed on so a lot of windows need twice or three times the rinsing and I cannot see how a standard rate/flow could be retained over a days work.

Again only my opinion based on my workflow and the homes I work on.
