Has anyone used the Leaflet Distribution inserted into Newspapers method for getting leaflets delivered.

I have just got some info in the post regarding leaflet delivery.

£14.98 (incl. VAT) per thousand min 4000. They are inserted and can be with many other leaflets.

I currently use a chap who charges me £20 per 1000 - to very little effect - One job (£45) from 11,000 leaflets so far. Total cost £110 plus paper and printing costs.

The newspaper method is a 25% saving and it cant be any worse - can it?

Your thoughts and experiences with newspaper delivery systems are welcome.

1 job in 11,000? even if you had a crap leaflet there is something wrong.

You can only reasonably get about 1000 a day delivered. so your deliverer charging you only £20 per 1000 probably answers that. even if he is doing yours and say 2 other leaflets £60.00 a day before expenses. Say 6 hours walking at 5 MPH = 30miles, abouth the length of a marathan. So hes going to walk 11marthans in this wheather for a few hundred quid?

I have dealt with lots of these chancers and they are only any good if you give them a couple of 1000 lealfets and tell them you will pay them on completion and you want delivery details so you can check. Giving them lots of leaflets at once is a waste of time.

Try using local parish magazines, this lets you vary the areas you cover and they are usaully cheap. One of the ones I use has a coverage of only 800 and charges £19 for delivering lealets with it, last month got 4 jobs from it.

If you want gurenteed delivery use Newsquest, they own most local papers in England and they will deliver with one of there free papers. I dont get great results with them, only 3 jobs per thousand. but they are cheap £25 + VAT per 1000

Do them yourself if you can, i do 300 every day myself without fail so do the three guys that work with me. if I miss some one day I make this number up ther next. It works I get 7/10 jobs a week from the leaflets I do myself and we would be finished if we didnt do this, these extra jobs over the courses of the year make a hugh difference to your profits. The biggest mistake we have made in the past is to slow down with the marketing when we get busy, this is a funny old game one week your upto your eyeballs the next your dead.

You would get a better responce than that.

this chap is having a laugh with you, ask where he's posted em and go and knock on a few doors to check they have been delivered, then dont pay him if nobody remembers the leaflets.

The only other reason i could see you getting this responce is if you advertise your prices and they arent in line with the type off customer you are delivering to, but even then 1 in 11000 is apauling.

Our local press is £14 + VAT per thousand havent, tried em yet though becuase when we open our local press about 9 or 10 flyers drop out, so im not sure they will work.  Also id like a more sustained campaign, so if i try the leaflet route ill, send out say 1000 to high profile postcodes them do this once a month over the course of a year to test.

Either way delivering a 1000 leaflets sucks as any one who has done them will know. The point is these chancers who charge £20.00 a 1000 cant be making a living out of it and they cant be that stupid to relise it either, which ultimately leads to them not being done properly.

Here's what we did a few years ago, not really needed to do anymore,

I got together with five of my friends who ran there own business and each of us took it in turns to deliver five leaflets to every house in a certain area, which meant only once a month we had do the delivering then it was someone elses turn.

why this works is that each has a vested interest in getting the leaflets out, and when they are not delivering they know someone else is and the work keeps on coming in.

You can also put them in an envelope and describe it as a home services pack.
It really does work, although any more than five and it probably would be less productive.

last year i gave 20,000 leaflets to a company to distribute they led me to believe they were being hand delivered but they put them in local     papers 2 calls 2 jobs never again

Hi Guys

I like others have mix feelings about the free newspapers.

i have just had a bad run with my local over a eight week period.

so i am going to change the way i use them.

first i have changed the copy to match what i think is the main type of reader. just think about it every estate agent spends loads of money each week with these papers so, they must work for them. if you where looking to sell or buy would you pick one up and have a look at them? and what is normally the middle pages where the leaflet gets put? estate agents.

so matching the message on the leaflet to house sellers and buyers whick also is a good market for carpet cleaning should help inprove responce.

second there are week when there ar no leaflets oe few in the paper so by leaving booking to the last moment and asking what areas have leaflets in and how many and what type should again help. like me i am sure if you have used this type of leafket distubition before you should be on good terms with whoever takes the orders, so this info should be easy to find out.

last make sure your leaflet is the biggest. this is one reason that the pink leaflet works so well. other smallier ones get put inside it, with your on the outside od all these others or the biggest should help.

Its my view that no one method of distubition should be use a mix of many. matching differant formats messages, and the way they are dropped with help reach differant markets.

by reading posts on here you can tell that all the differant ways of dropping leaflets work so why just use one. sure you need to watch out and make sure to and getting what you would expect from the responce. you should br tracking all your marketing so you will be able to confront the con merchants or poor performers.

Its the old trck of not putting all your eggs in one barsket. if you have someone dropping leaflets get two and as this makes it easier to tell from week to week if its just a poor week or if they are dropping them or not. i never let my people meet each other so bad habbits dont get passed on, also two ways to check is to set out what streets to drop then ask them what time they will be doing them and asking them not to post all the way through the letterbox, or making the pavment a set points.

sounds over the top, no trust should always be earnt and not given freely. we only have ourselfs to blame if it goes wrong. we all get gutt feelings about people and situtions and they are normaly right.

The only company I find are 100% honest and delivers every single leaflet is a company called u.r. self.

They only deliver 200 leaflets per day but you are assured on average 1 job per 200 and they also do it for free
