« on: July 22, 2004, 09:21:14 pm »
i am quoting an estate agents tommorrow, i have done 3/4 quotes on the commercials but always post the quote, and put the quote in to 3 packages

bronze 2.50sq m basic clean
silver 3.25 sq.m including deoderiser
gold 4.25 sq m including protector

i usually get no response at all from posting it, so my questioin is

do you close the deal there and then?
and what do you say if they say "we are getting more quotes, we;l get back to you."????????

Quoting for commercials work, this depends on many factors is it privately owed and you are dealing with the owner or is it a group and you are quoting to the manager who have to get it authorised, yes they get more quotes don’t we all!

Don’t know how you word your quotes or how you sell your self, with regard to your 3 listing this may be a put off, this should be quantified at the meeting with the customer, they may have asked for it, but we are not to know as you don’t say.

Upon meeting with your potential client tell him/her that you would like to survey the job, ask questions as you go so you can determine which level of service they require.

Submitting three different services may confuse matters, alot of people may wonder why you can't do your best for the lower price  ???

Taylor your quote to meet the clients needs and provide as much information with it as possible, eg: your H&S policy, company info etc.  Hand deliver this to the person you saw and tell them once they have had a chance to look through it (usually a couple of days unless they are in a rush) you will be in touch.  Then follow up with a phone call.

I don't think it matters too much if you post it or hand deliver, it's the content you put in the letter, if you put quotation for cleaning office carpet would be £x then you get put in the same pile as the next cleaner who is £10 cheaper.
When I send in my quote I explain what I do why I do it and what benefits the customer to save money ie quicker drying so office can be used quickly, non odour so staff and customers won't get sick, more thorough cleaning so stains won't come back etc and then I put references and referals of other clients in the commercial sector. You stand a better chance of getting the job if your not the cheapest cleaner in town.

Fox & Shaun have sound advice also get the manager on your side this will add brownie points when you send the quote to them even though they pass this to the power to be!

Here’s an example one night mare of a day then a call from a charity org problem with one of there shop flood! Only place to park was in the estate agents parking bays, which I did, I explained the situation to the manager not a problem, when you are finished can you come and see me as I would like a quote for our carpets to be cleaned, I then quoted and got the job, doing this Friday evening, I was £40 above the highest quote, and I look liked I done two days with out a wash! Interesting isn’t it as I always say when quoting look your best?
