I didn't think you could work at that height from a ladder anymore with the new WAHR ???

I might be wrong

50 quid + the cost of a cherry picker and driver.
You cannot plough a field by turning it over in your mind.

not in a million years should you be doing that in the way you have posted. Forget pictures, get the clown on the camera to foot the ladder.
Get a set of stand offs. They fit quickly and easily to the ladder and hold you away up to 24" from the wall of the building. They prevent sideways movement and they stop you resting your ladders on gutters which is suicidal - I cannot believe you have done THAT!

your top extension is on the SECOND rung of the middle extension. Should be a minimum of 3 rung overlap. Serious risk of ladder collapse.

You are a serious if not fatal accident waiting to happen. Stop now and think a bit more safely.

£50 is way too cheap as well regardless of how blocked or clear they were. The job is priced as if they are blocked from end to end. If they are not, you have been paid to inspect and report.
That is at least £100.00 done safely.

You should have someone footing the ladder, ladder stand off fitted

I agree with seanmcshane!

The way you've done the job is far too risky!

Aslong as he doesn't over stretch then I think he'd be ok the only dodgy thing there is resting on the gutter which could be slippy! ;)

Marky, I charge £15 per section of gutter. No offense but look at the WAHR guidance on extending your ladders, your top section is only sitting on a top rung.

Jobs like that a I use a ladder stay which means your ladders are not on the gutter.

I charge £1.50 per foot, which includes cleaning the outside of the gutter.

I have a few guttering jobs lined up... But I'm not doing them until I get my gutter lance because I hate doing gutters off of a ladder!

well heres 10 that I can run off the top of my head that a HSE could fire out.

1, no helmet
2, no harness
3, over extended ladder (weakens the safe working load)
4, resting on a gutter
5, standing on toes to over reach upwards
6, ladder base is on soft ground
7, no "at work" signs
8, working sideways on a ladder
9, ladder base is resting on unsafe land (land supported by an old stone wall only)
10, freind more interested in taking pics than footing ladder.

bear in mind that usually it is when you have several contributing factors comming together that accidents happen and I think it is safe to say that under current laws you would have probably been closed down if this had been spotted by a HSE.

I know I am new, and that sounds harsh, but it is what I can see.  If I was a HSE I would have no problem at all serving you with a stop trading notice.  I would lose very little sleep over it.  I would feel like I had just saved a life.

That picture is probably all the evidence they need to justify clamping down on you too.  I wouldn't have posted it.

PS,  looking at the actual house, I would say it was meant for standoffs,  those bits of wood underneath the gutter look perfect for preventing sideways movment and turns it into a much safer job if they are used.

what concerns me is if Olly is taking the photograph and Stan is up the ladder, who is looking after the horses?

How can anyone condone that type of working?
Looks like old iron guttering too. One crack and the ladder is gone.
A bit of movement from that ground above the stone wall and same again, another statistic.

Ridiculous.
