« on: January 14, 2007, 07:28:20 pm »

no its not, you need a payload of around 1500 kgs, you could just not fill it all the way up though

No.  Don't do it.  The maximum payload on a Trafic/Vivaro/Primastar is about 1200kg (with the 2.9 tonne version).  Most of them are 2.7 tonne so only have about 1,000kg payload.  The tank, 1,000 litres of water, and two guys would probably eat up nearly all the payload on a 2.9 tonner and would certainly exceed it on a 2.7 tonner.  To give you some sort of guide, I carry two largish poles, a trolley, an 800 litre tank, two hosereels, and the usual miscellaneous stuff for WFP (including a spare battery).  I have checked it out at a weighbridge before.  If I have the 50 litre trolley full, I can't have a full water tank too.  I admit that I'm overweight but certainly not the weight of two guys  :)  .  Bear in mind that I have the 2.9 tonne version and I work alone.  The weight test was done with the diesel tank fairly full too.
I assume you are aware that 1,000 litres of water weighs exactly 1 tonne (1,000kg)?
You would need to baffle an IBC tank if van mounted.  This would probably slightly reduce the amount of water being carried.  If you do decide to fit this tank, I suggest that you put everything in it that you will normally carry, fill up the diesel tank, sit both yourself and your workmate in the van, then get it weighed.  The number of kilos left of spare weight is the number of litres of water you can carry (though perhaps you should allow a margin for error and allow for being in the van AFTER you've eaten your lunch   :)

That's good going.  I've managed to get through 700+ litres in a day on my own before.  Mind you it was wall to wall glass and a filthy first clean on a pretty large job.
I find I can fit the poles in an SWB Trafic but they need to be diagonal (as in high at the back - low at the front) but not diagonally across the vehicle.  Can only get 6 foot lengths in though.  If I start needing longer poles, I will need to have them in 6 foot sections maximum as I don't want to carry them on the outside.

play safe and go the next size up,renualt master, vauxhall movano, i belive1000ltr tank would be no problem for  the movano, master.
i use a movano 3.5 mwb, they are such a great van to drive the larger size is no problem.and its great having a van that takes long poles etc with out any problem at all.and after strugling with room in a transit for a couple of years i now love being able to stand up and move around in the back of the movano.

I think I already have smallish jets on my main brush heads as they are the standard jets that Omnipole put in their Vikan brushes.  The 700 litres I quoted was exceptional due to the poor condition of the windows and the sheer quantity of glass.  Normally, 400 litres will do for me in a day.

The jets shiner has are the same as mine and they are 2 mm jets.

Oh right.  I didn't know they were 2mm Paul.  I just knew they use less water than the Ionics brushes (I have one of those too).  I suppose there are good and bad points from what I've seen.  The Ionics brushes (with their larger jets) use a lot more water but I've never yet had a blockage.  The Omnipole 2mm jets save some water but have to be unblocked occasionally (no problem if you carry the right spanners).

i use the vikan brush but with ionic jets filled with solder then drilled out to about
2mm which saves half the water waste.2 of us could easily empty a tank with
ionic jets but now it lasts all day.

i have now put a 10 inch 1 micron filter before the pumps so the blocking up
rubbish has stopped where does this crap come from??
do you like the solder thing tight arse or what i just tried it from a tip on here
just didnt want to spend any more money!!but works just fine Edd

I am surprised at getting the occasional blockege because the 1/2" hose that lays at the bottom of the water tank has a little gauze that fits over it.  It's no big deal though.  Maybe once a month a jet starts to dribble instead of squirt so I just undo it and unblock it.  Best to have mole grips handy because once in a while, the jet comes out still attached to its surround.
