Hi all,

I was just thinking of sending some spec letters off to some banks. Has anyone achieved success from doing them or not? Id be interested in your thoughts over this.

You will need to offer nationwide coverage in most cases.

I have, years ago cleaned banks and building socs., but no more, thanks.

For security reasons, you need to use a portable inside the building and with all doors and window closed, it gets pretty hot and steamy - uncomfortable and slow drying.

The hours they want you to clean are inconvenient if you are a busy cleaner as they tend to want you there at 5.30, so you have to ensure that you leave an adiquate safety margin after the preceeding job incase of an over-run.

On top of this, most of these, I understand, are arrranged on a district basis and are very price-sensitive.

My bank has had the same large amounts of chewing gum ground into its main entrance and waiting area must be going on for 5 years now. I was thinking of chatting with them. But didn't because  I ran through the problems that John has just mentioned and thought beter of it. I am amazed no one has mentioned the gum to them and that they've done nothing about it. Perhaps this says spending money on cleaning carpets is bottom of their priorities. Which leads to the question " Will they pay you what the job is worth if you wanted to do it?"

Hi,

  Me and my brother stopped doing bank jobs long ago, the biggest problem we had was the time they used to take to clean out, so in the end we had to pay someone to sit outside in the van reving up ready to tear off when the task was completed.

The work can normally be quite rewarding but remember planing is everthing and never forget the wifes tights.

PS.. Is this forum about carpet cleaning?

Peter what ever you wear is you prerogative as long as you and your accomplices wear a uniform!

Sky your efforts should be direct to the FM side find out who dose the cc side as they sub-contract.

I've not long won a 5 year contract for a major bank, and it has been proving to be a pain, on the whole they take about 2.5 hours for the smaller branches and up to 6 hours for 2 men on the larger ones, the next problem I encountered was that they also wanted the vinyl flooring done, whilst no problem in its' self, it does add more time on to the jobs and after all that, you guessed it, they don't and won't pay decent money, so your to busy trying to do a sensible job, than worry about gum that in some instances, has been ground into the carpet for 3 years plus.
Your best bet, if you still want to try the bank circuit is to go to the various DOC companies, because there the ones who tend to get the daily regimes, banks will just about pay for that service, Happy hunting.

Me thick what is DOC companies.

Perhaps one way of getting out of doing hard floors, is we specialize in carpet cleaning only.

DOC is for Daily Office Cleaning, as in Mitie, ISS, Initial and others. And in answer to your other question, where's that!!!!!!!!! if I didn't do the hard flooring, then I wouldn't get the carpet, how's that 4 catch 22.

Hi Guys,

I did a bank in Grays a few years ago.

I had the keys and was told I could clean it between 15.30 and 18.30.

Turned up early as always,waited for bank clock to hit 15.30(digital clock),opened the door BINGO alarms went, lights flashed was expecting to be slammed against the wall by the 'Sweeney'.

Then all the phones started ringing so I answered one ,it was bank security who asked me who i was etc and explained that I had opened door at 15.29!

Alarms etc were turned off ,I cleaned the carpet and went home.

This was the last bank I cleaned because the price I got for all the inconvenience with timed entry etc just did'nt make it worth the hasssle.
