Health & Saftey
« on: January 11, 2007, 06:07:50 pm »
I Have had a large comercial contract aproach me for a tender, I have not the time to do it. So I took Ian Giles to introduce him to the contracts manager.

We had to  sign the visitors book and write out our visitor's lapel badges and had to put on high viss jackets to look around.

As we started to walk out of the building the saftey officer was on us like a rat up a drain pipe. She said she wanted risk assement and methord statement and evormental health policy and a copy of insurance with the tender.

And if sucsesfull would have to attend an induction course before any work can be carried out.

We are not just window cleanners any more.

Welcome to the 21st century, we have been doing trade work to the large chemical industry on Teesside for 50 years now, and the window cleaning is 10% of the job, it the same, risk assesment, job method statement, cosch, manual handling, permit to work, WAHR , staff training, induction of every job, they might be 100 difeerent plants, jobs, safe site contractor system, safety weekly brief, monthly and quartely etc.
But after all this we have not had an accident or incedent for 30 years, so its taught me a lot over the years and am very grateful for what it taught me as a company and for the safety of employees, and no claims to worry about or corporate manslaughter.
