Hi,

Just bought a 650L upright tank and have fitted it in. Just filled it right to the top for the first time today and set off for my day's work. Got to my first job which is only 5mins away from my house and the back of the van was soaked!

My lid has a vent on it and I can only assume that this is where the water came from as it was wet around it?

How can I prevent this from happening everytime I fill it right up?

Anyone else have this problem?

Yep. I get that too. It happens especially when I fill it right to the top. The problem is there is a vent in the lid which stops the tank imploding as your water level goes down during the day.  The water slops about in the tank and comes out of this vent.

As yet, I don't have a cure - just a wet van every morning.

Hi,

How about putting a nipple fitting into the hole and then a length of small bore tubing to exit via a discreet hole in the floor or wherever convenient to discharge the sloops away?

Just a thought; this has worked for me with something similar in the past.

Heres a pic on how I did my sons. It does not leak.You have to be carefull to screw the lid on correctly.

But I would have to get a new lid as there's a 1" hole where the vent is???

How could I get round it?

Why not tape some scrim over the bottom of the vent the air can still pass through but the splash of water may not.

Just a thought.

Put some thick polythene over the vent and then screw it down. Then poke a screw driver or some wire through the vent hole and through the polythene. This small whole will offer enough ventilation and should prevent slopping.
