I have just had to buy a couple of new poles, and so I decided to have a look at the Vikan sill brush.
 I've seen a couple of posts about them being too heavy to work with all day, well I've just worked all day with the brush, and I'm impressed. I am certain that it will remove any possibility of leaving brush marks on the sills, and it seems to me that the jets are a bit bigger than the normal ones, as the water has not been spurting out as far, but there has been plenty sheeting down the glass.
  So I would say that for about an extra £10 they are well worth it.

Its a waterdrip to help stop runoff and staining, also made of wood.

I can see why a sill brush would be important.  Who wants to have dirt left behind on there after a cleaning.

Yes, I will leave it on the domestic pole every day.

I would like tgo be able to fit them to my larger poles, but one has a B.M.S gooseneck on, and the other I think has an omnipole gooseneck on.It is on the higher windows that I think I would get the most benefit from the sill brush, as I have been able to clean sills fairly well on 1st floor windows by standing a bit further away and tilting the normal vikan brush.
But, the higher you go, the less you are able to do this, and in some situations, you can be standing very close to the building, to be able to reach the windows, and it is with these situations that the sill brush would be the only way of cleaning the sills.

I made one of these, drop the pole and alter the angle of the brush for vertical work or horiontal, you can also use the cranked angle but the brush fixing is fast.

Nice brush man! Very similar design to one I made with a salmon brush (I nicked your design about two years ago). A really great brush to use due to the jets being over the bristles.

Where did you get the blue bendy pipe from? Do any of the large retailers sell it, like B&Q, Halfords etc. Is it silicone?

Mark the bendy 4mmID pipe is silicon airline hose from a good aquarium shop less than 40p/metre, roll 100m about £30 you need to use hose barbs otherwise it collapses inside john guest type fittings but someone probably does little thin collars.
You can join it to the inside of a 6mmID pipe using superglue or superglue to the fittings as well. I have been evaluating it for about 2 months and feel save in reccomending it to anyone now. Its ultra light and as stretchy as knicker elastic  :)There is a topic about it on Matts forum. Try some.
Mark. if you mean the brush in my pic its a £2.99 Addis floor brush from the likes of the Co-Op the bristles are mono and will lie nicely flat on the glass. But you can adapt any sort of brush, mono or flocked.
Maybe you missed this idea.

I bought the Sill brush fromT.L.C. cleaning in Biddulph Staffs. tel.01782-511222
I think they are £26.50, they do have a cheaper version which is £14.25, it doesn't look as good as the vikan

hhmmm, Gaz, if thats the type of sill you are talking about then..........no we still don't clean them!  They'll get a fast wipe if they're downstairs and , well, they just get wet if they're upstairs.

Mmmm I'm hoping to get work in the future by selling the fact that I will clean the frames and sills too. Anyone else out there cleaning them and what brushes are you using?
P.S. Gaz are you a supplier of brushes? if so how do I contact you?
