Air Dusting Rugs
« on: December 10, 2006, 01:26:50 pm »
Anyone know where I can get hold of the tool head that connects to an air compressor hose for me to remove dust from rugs instead of using a vacuum cleaner. Is it called an air broom??

Alan

Sorry can’t help (but interested if the price was right) think Dave (Liahona) uses such a system for his rugs.

Don’t tell me you are still carrying rugs around, ;D last time I saw you not a lot of room so where will you fit the compressor. ;)

I use an Air-Gun.

Can you expand on that?

Thanks, I thought that was what you meant but how on earth do you do a whole rug using the small surface area that this covers. There are tool heads available that look perhaps a little wider than a house brick so you can do a lane rather than a line. I've seen them trawling around the web but can't find where you can buy one.
Thanks for getting back to me.

Just an idea why not get a big compressor and attach your solution pipes to it and your wand, if you'll pardon the pun you could blow and suck at the same time.

Actually, thinking about it you might be onto something there. Not the extraction because you want to move the loose soil through the rug and out the other side but putting some very large fan jets on a wand head should do nicely. Genius. Cheers ;D

Alan, you fire the Air-gun from a distance with the Rug hanging up,the pressure you can build upto with a compressor is enough to blow your eye out, so wear Goggles.

    Regards Rob

P.s the Gun nozzle is designed to produce a fan effect so does the job no problem.

I never realised you could do this. I used to beat my rugs with a carpet beater when I had my workshop. Sitting in the corner of my workshop was a large and I mean compressor. I shared the workshop with my old man and the compressor was his. All that wasted energy and now you tell me :'( :'( :'(
