Excluding the franchises how many multi van operators are there?

A few years ago in the daily express a guy had a 1.8 mil turnover a year he did this by buying up other business on the cheap for the customer base. this was about 3 years ago it was in the paper. he didnt do ins work. just domestic and commercial.

but then again too much splash and dash going around these days for you to build it up!   

so say after say 5 years should you or would you want to be in the position to run more vans on the road, or is is even worth it.

worth the extra hassle!
