fuel add on
« on: November 26, 2006, 07:23:23 pm »
Hello all
I apologise in advance for this question as it may have been answered before, though I have looked.
As a complete newbie there are still many things to learn so I turn to you the voice of experience.
I have an hourly rate for my immediate area which is quite rural and have had some calls from a bit further out..some 14 miles away and one 20 miles, what I want to know is would it be fair to bump up the hourly rate so I cover my petrol or is this seen as not right and should be the same for all. I want to do the right thing by folk but also need to earn a living.
many thanks

Of course it is ok, any cost you incur must be passed on. Your not a charity mate  ;)

Fully agree with Rob on this one, I do, and will contine to add additional cost to cover travel.

You will find that some on this board will charge work by the hourly rate and others by job rate.  I use both, depending on the merits of each individual customer.
