office carpet
« on: November 23, 2006, 11:30:38 pm »
Water cooler has leaked onto carpet and been left for several weeks and water cooler supplier has previously called in Chemdry to clean up the damage (twice)
This has resulted in a dark water stain approx 1 mtr diameter where the machine had stood, client has now cancelled the water contract and had all coolers removed.
Carpet is office grade, blue in colour with bits of orangey fleck in it,felt backed approx 3 yrs old.
I don't have  a problem hwe this carpet but am a bit concerned about what solution chemdry would have attacked the carpet with, not sure how it was cleaned first time but pretty sure it was hwe the second time as he left his wand behind. ::)
Same problem in another area same type of carpet but green, severe water staining, want to do the best job possible as this is one of our office cleaning contracts. Any advice appreciated.

if it helps,
I had similar problem of a water container leaking , area of around 2 sq yds , water marking ,

hwe on first visit, came out with just plain old extraction, explained possiblity of wicking ........
sure enough call next day , bonnet cleaned the area and no probs since :)

I did allow for a revisit in my price as i could see the potential of wicking back
I cant really see a problem in what chemdry have used providing you extract first

If i know chemdry they probably charged £500 just for the stain, so once again charge for a revisit just in case it wicks back

Thanks guys,
I was only a little puzzled as to what chemdry may have used on it because whatever it was it was useless, the cooler company have now had the contract terminated and we will be cleaning the carpets over the Christmas break.
Main problem is the dirty looking "tide" mark around the edge of the water stain,it is almost black on a blue carpet.

Hi John,

As Geoff said water extraction should remove the water mark.

The black tide mark around the water spill will be dirt spreading from the water leak area to the outer limits of the spill. General hwe should remove all traces. If not then spray remaining stain with 50/50 diluted microsplitters, agitate and rinse again.

Hope this helps,

Jason.

I think the best approach is to bonnet on second visit if it wicks back, the tide mark you describe "Water mark" around edge will be the only problem i would imagine. extacting again may just cause subsequent wicking.
