As far as I'm aware its called the Union flag, not the union Jack.

Dave,

Quite right - The term 'jack' is applied since it combines all the others (As in jack of all trades)

hmmm some very strong opinions, some bordering
on the line of a possible infringment of the so called
political correct brigades rules
however , not quite the debate i was seeking ,although
looking at it from some of your veiw points ,i can see
how feelings are easily stirred
my intention and main objective was to consider was it unproffessional.
perhaps a poll would have been of help!!
well not sure how to put up a poll on here , perhaps some can oblige, along the lines of my first questions
is it unproffesional?
whos displaying or will be ?
who doesnt care less ?

apprietiate if some one puts this format up
tks geoff
who ever said dont knock before u try ,i never tried dog crap but i know i wouldnt like  haha

Hi

The combined flag of the 'home' nations is the Union flag but the term 'Jack' I believe originated from it's use in the Royal Navy i.e. the flag flown at the stern (that's the blunt end) of the ship

Just to say guys this is a thread about 1 or 2 St. Georges flags been put on vehicles to show support for our national team in a major football competition. Dont drag it into a slagging match about anything to do with any other countries flags, including the Union Jack as this is the British flag not the English flag . COME ON ENGLAND

I thought the nation had become full of Born Again Christians as St. Georges cross is the flag of The Church of England.

Back to the original post though, especially as I don't share a passion for football, I wouldn't display any of these pieces of chinese plastic on my van, car or bike. I do feel that it looks unprofessional. I wouldn't have a problem with carrying a small Cross of St. George sticker permanently on any of my vehicles. What I do object to though, is to dis-figure the flag with the word(s) ENGLAND written all over it (seems pointless doesn't it?) or even worse the 3 Lions motif (again seems pointless repeating the obvious)

There, I've had my whinge.

Safe and happy cleaning :)

Ken,
The church of England has sadly very little in common with born again christians!

Kind Regards

I have no intrest in football or flags whatsoever :'(

Did a job today for a lovely older couple couple.

Amtico floor stripped and redressed and cleaned dining room carpet.

Talked with the misses for ages over cups of tea while floor drying and trying to keep the cat out.

Both made up with floor looking like new again.

When the cheque was presented to me it read:

Sir Robert and Lady Charlton!

I then noticed who the old guy was! Well sometimes you dont look too close!

Just an ordinary down to  earth couple, and a pleasure to work for.  :)
