Hi Sky

A personal viewpoint which may be out of date. My experiences with breweries back in the eighties was that they wanted high quality work at the lowest rate possible. Then they wanted you to work unsociable hours, often through the night, with no premium payable for these hours. And of course they wanted extended credit terms.

I feel that, if market conditions are still the same, you need a Truck Mount. If you need to work through the night, will you work the day before and the day after? By all means make enquiries, but read the contract carefully if you decide to go ahead. Ask your local pubs what time of day they have their carpets cleaned.

Safe and happy cleaning:)

Sky,
I agree with all Kens comments. The only pub work I take on now, after the bad experiences described by Ken, are those booked direct with the landlord/ owner and get paid in full on completion - Breweries - forget them!

Very surprised you used the word TM. (Joke)

Sky take heed of Ken and Dave. I do a reasonable amount of pub carpets and its hard work.

With regards spec letters yes I have some but do you think I or any one will supply you with these your profile = 0 you could be in the next road cut my own throat no way.

Sky,

One-by-one I have blacklisted every brewery I have ever worked for.

At one time I was doing £1200 p.a. for breweries, when that amounted to real money. The trouble was that I was financing their business because the un-paid invoices just mounted up.

The hours worked were not always unsociable, then came all-day opening and I found myself working day and night. Enough was enough - no more brewery work.

Now, like Dave, I do a few tenanted houses where the landlord pays usually before completion.

If you are to specialise in this type of (night) work and can assure yourself that payments will be made on time , then good luck to you

John.

Hi

My two pennies worth...

I don't clean pub carpets any more...for the reasons already expressed plus I did one many years ago ...

the quote was accepted verbally by the landlord.

Job done satisfactorily...landlord left ..Brewery said he had no authorisation to get carpets cleaned....therefore bill not paid

Moral...get an acceptance IN WRITING with an order number.

Cheers
Derek

Dear Mr prendergast,

while having a meal at the Dog & duck in Newhaven ( which I believe is one of your establishments) I noticed that the carpets need cleaning. After speaking to Mr Jones the landlord he gave me your name.

I'm sure you'll agree the carpets within a public house can be a very expensive item to replace but we often find with reguler cleaner they can last up to 4 times longer (saving you a conciderable amount of money).

for the last 15yrs we have been cleaning carpets in the Newhaven area and have earned a reputaion for quality workmanship at a fair price.

we would be happy to give you a free demonstration & qoate.

I'll call your office at the end of the week to see if we can arrange a mutually conveniant time for us to meet and discuss this matter.

Yours faithfully

Jo Bloggs

this is just of the top of my head, what you say is'nt very important. You just have to get it read by the right person, so ask the landlord who's responsible for the carpet cleaning and put his name on the letter

Sarcasm dose not suit you, your so naive GOD! I never said I had a wealth of marketing knowledge but I like the dirty Harry bit.

I can remember from TV years ago I’m not a number; I suggest both you and sky cleanitup your act, the word credibility comes into the equation sadly not in both cases, yes I’m more than happy and willing to give the experiences/data I have, though being limited to some.

So make my day both give full disclosure.

By the way I always get paid on completion; lucky for me it’s not who you know! it’s who know you! ;D

Sky,

I think that YOU owe the entire forum an appology for your foul-mouthed, childish outburst.

That sort of behaviour will only get you one place - sent to Coventry.

John.
