Changing RO-MAN Filters
« on: November 13, 2006, 07:33:54 pm »
Hi All,

Advice needed. The water leaving my ro-man filters is now at 24tds.....this is then brought down to 000tds when leaving my van tank via the di filter.  My quesion is how high should i let the ro tds get before i change its filters. Any thoughts most welcome.

Thanks Paul.

Our out reading is anywhere between 7-10.  We change our filters every 9-12 months.

They are cheap enough.  carbon Block filter about £7.50.  Sediment Filter @ £6 and the CBRA2 carbon Filter at £15.

Hope that helps,

Sarah

Thanks for replies,

Its a 450 I think. It has pretty much always left the ro between 9/12. Just today it has shot upto 24, and I always flush before every fill.

Thanks paul.

Paul,

it sounds like you need to change the filters.  Just a word of caution if you have not changed them before.  When you unscrew the cover make sure you dont drop the black rubber seals.

We did and spent ages trying to sort out why the unit was  leaking  :P

I wonder if you have it pumped and also did you take this reading straight after turning it on or after it had settled for a While?

our RO pumps out at 12-14 and i thought that was low!!! mind you a live in a hard water area where i think its around 250-300 out the tap.we use the 25 litre DI unit and only have to change it twice/three times a year running my RO at the number stated so real low running costs

hello again,

Its not pumped Chris. At 9/12 tds I did,nt worry but at 24 i,m thinking  it will use my resin that much quicker.

Cheers Paul.

It will certainly eat through your resin quicker thats for sure, cant think why its gone up so quick mines been producing the same for 18 months now unless its the pre filters that are clogged , change mine every 4/5 months ( have just ordered more after 6mths ... Forgot to check for a bit ) but still producing same though ... just a change for peace of mind really
